Helicopter Air Experience Flying 2021

Northern Region Gliding Camp 2019
On August 3rd and 4th Hervey Bay Squadron joined forces with Bundaberg and Sunshine Coast Squadron to hold the biggest gliding camp so far at Bundaberg's Elliot Gliding Field. It was the first time gliding for 6 of our Cadets (and one very excited Parent) and they all had a great time. It's fantastic to be able to experience gliding around the skies of the Bundaberg region in absolute silence.
Operation RIMAU Memorial Service
On July 7th Cadets joined with the Hervey Bay RSL Sub Branch in remembering the 23 Commandos of Z Special Unit and Operation Rimau. The Cadets learned some of our regions history from WWII and paraded with the respect and dignity deserved.
Northern Region Powered Flying Day
The first time flying for many of our young Cadets was at the Northern Region Flying Day, held in Bundaberg on June 29th. This was also the first time the Hervey Bay and Bundaberg Cadets joined forces for some Bert Hinkler Wing bonding. They all walked away with their Aviation Experience class 3 badge after an excellent training session from the Group Executive Commissioner.
Remembrance Day 2018
11/11/2018 marked the 100th anniversary of the guns going silent on the Western Front after 4 years of fighting during World War 1. As a mark of respect, the Hervey Bay Squadron joined members of the public at Freedom Park to pay tribute to the brave men and women who sacrificed so much for our way of life.
AAL Federal Review 23rd September 2018
The AAL Federal Review Badge
The Australian Air League Federal Review was held this year at Crest Athletics Stadium, George's Hall (Sydney). 27 Cadets from across Queensland represented their respective Squadrons and QLD Group during the bi-yearly event and brought home a variety of awards. Hervey Bay and Bundaberg Cadets combined with some of Gold Coast Squadron to take third place in the Wing Section Drill event. Well done to all of the Cadets from QLD Group for their efforts and behavior during the weekend.
Wing Gliding Camp 2018
Leading Cadet Robinson shortly before take off
Every year Cadets take part in a joint activity with Bundaberg Squadron where they get to experience flying in a glider. It is a great opportunity for the two Squadrons to connect, whilst experiencing something many people will not - the sensation of flying thousands of feet off the ground in an un-powered aircraft, in complete silence. Three of our Cadets went along this year, with all three passing their exams at the end and gaining Gliding and Soaring badges.
ANZAC Day 2018
The Squadron provided Cenotaph duty for the Burrum Heads ANZAC Day ceremony
Cadets from Hervey Bay Squadron marched in the Burrum Heads ANZAC Day parade. At the conclusion of the march, the Cadets formed up as the honour guard for the duration of the ceremony.
